WHY GHANA BECOME THE FIRST COUNTRY TO GAIN INDEPENDENCE IN AFRICA?

 Decolonization process in Gold Coast (Ghana),    During the 1946 Britain changed the constitution of Gold Coast which increased the number of African representatives in the Legislative Council (LEGCO) through appointing and electing. But many of them were African chiefs who regarded as the colonial agents by African elites. Example 13 were appointed by colonialist and only 5 were elected to join LEGCO. But many African elites did not accept the decision made by Britain, and then decided to form political party which Known as United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC) in 1947 under the leadership of J. B. Danquah and Kwame Nkrumah who was the secretary. The members of this political party were Lawyers, businessmen, teachers and journalist. Then colonialist decided to accept some of UGCC demands and change constitution again, this made most of the UGCC leaders to accept colonialist. However other leaders include Kwame Nkrumah did not accept the new constitution while they wanted total

TOPIC ONE INTERACTIONS AMONG THE PEOPLE OF AFRICA: What is interaction? Interaction refers to the way in which people from one society came into contact with another society. Through these contacts African people were able to form new relationship during pre-colonial period. I. SOCIAL FACTORS FOR INTERACTION; The following are the social factors which gave rise to interactions among the people of Africa; 1. Through marriage; interactions influenced by marriages where by one community marry from another community. Example some African rulers married from different clans in order to strengthen their political power, example kabaka married from different clans for the aims of strengthen his power. Also marriage between African people and Arabs cause interaction. Hence cause interaction. 2. Colonial administrative systems: Colonial administrative systems,   were the ways of controlling and maintaining colonial power in the colonies soon after the establishment of colonialism. Also colonial administration systems were the methods used by Europeans to rule their colonies. After colonization of African societies colonialist established different administrative systems in their colonies includes Direct Rule, Indirect Rule, Assimilation policies, and Association policies. A. Direct Rule, this was kind of administrative systems where by African societies were ruled directly by using only European personnel. This type of colonial administration, African chiefs did not have power in administration.
